Last month I posted a couple of photographs of my red maple tree, which you can see here. At the time, it was patiently awaiting the beginnings of winter so it could finally start to shed its leaves.  I quite enjoyed looking at my red maple in its December dress, full and leafy and exhibiting a very generous shade of spring green.  Like me, it seemed defiant in the face of inevitable cold weather, but this weekend’s push of wintry winds has, yet again, established Mother Nature as the one in charge of these kinds of things.

In just one month’s time, my red maple has gone from lively to dormant – a hibernation of sorts, just as most trees do in the winter months.
